Mind-blowing, emotional and funny… what a movie. While there are times in the movie where I felt the Daniel’s got a little lost in the explanation weeds, the emotional depth of each character really carried the narrative and made for a beautiful and entertaining feature.
There’s a Polka-Dot Man in this movie, can you even say Polka-Dot Man without smiling? As Scorsese says these films are like “amusement parks“, so just enjoy it, I know I did. No, it’s not a think piece, this movie probably won’t change your life, I doubt it will reveal profound inner truths. It is however a two hour escape from reality with some decent laugh-lines from a man eating, talking shark… just go with it😉
This movie really took me by surprise. Incredible storytelling to show the depth of a relationship between man and pig in just a few scenes. There is a lot of good that happened in this picture. This man’s love of his pig pushing him to confront his past is cathartic in ways I wasn’t quite prepared for. That said, some of the plot points, especially towards the end, I found difficult to believe. That critique aside, from beginning to end, this narrative had my full attention.
