Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace 1999
Working through all 9 Star Wars films with the girls.
They had lots of questions about this one, including picking up on some dubious accents :/
I think maybe the 4K remaster made some of the VFX more pronounced, or maybe I just didn't remember it feeling a bit cheesy when I saw it in high school :)
Mission: Impossible 1996
Pulpy fun. It’d been a minute. Airplane watch.
All Quiet on the Western Front 2022
A true masterclass in the mechanics of storytelling. No wasted frames, no wasted setups. Everything is important and it's woven together in amazing ways. A study in visual contrast. From the officers to the soldiers in the field. From war to nature. And the score is a subtle way of reminding the viewer that this is as much a modern story as it is in the past.
Triangle of Sadness 2022
Honestly, I had absolutely no knowledge or expectations of this going in and that was the perfect way to see it. Absolutely bonkers and wonderful and bizarre.
