    The Holy War begins.

It's technically a marvel, obviously, and I really love the maturity of its dealing with power and religious manipulation and white saviour narratives on a level rarely seen in popular science fiction.

I'm rating it a little lower than the first because it didn't have the same sense of total immersion in the world, trading some of that off to satisfy so many story points it had to get through. I think it's a very good story, but it lost the overwhelming awe in the process.

It looks like they're going full Titanic. Love the commitment.

If I didn't know this was Shakespeare, I'd think the story was way too over the top with a bunch of nonsensical decisions to establish the premise. But once I relaxed and embraced the absurdity, I laughed a lot.

Sweeney is great, especially right after watching her be entirely wasted in Madame Web. Powell is also great. So are a lot of supporting characters. Just a lot of fun people having fun.

Yelling at me isn't an effective form of communication.

I imagine the shaky cam was going for a raw realistic vibe but I mostly found it just made it harder to focus on this excellently written and acted character drama.

I am definitely all in favour of seeing adults riding bikes in movies, though.

As radiant as the sun shining out of my...

It's uneven and messy, but D'Onofrio is such a good Kingpin that I'm willing to forgive a lot.
