I see why people are praising the incredible animation and creativity of this movie. I really loved a lot of the strong elements to the movie. Miles Morales is a great and fresh spin on Spiderman.
I was totally hooked until the a little more than halfway. It just got to be too much for me. Too out there, too ridiculous, too overwhelming, too many characters. I felt like the most compelling aspects could have been developed more to have Miles' character arc pay off be even more emotional.
In the end I wanted less spectacle, more focus on a select few characters. It's a big problem for me with these franchise movies lately. I guess I'm not on the hype train for this, I can see why people love it though.
My 7 year old son had a blast it's his first Spiderman movie. It was a bit too heavy and violent for my 4 year old though.
