Ryan’s review published on Letterboxd:
There's a profound sense of sadness surrounding this film for me. It's not easy watching someone, especially someone so like myself, fuck up for an hour and a half, no matter how charming those fuck ups may be.
However, along with that sadness lies an even more immense sense of joy. I've said this before regarding Gerwig projects, but she really has a way of making everything feel as though it's only for you; like a secret you're sharing with your best friend, like a moment where the only people that exist are you and your person. It's heartbreaking, but it's funny. It's uncomfortable, but wholly right.
I just wanna make something that makes someone feel the way this makes me feel.
