Ryan Wadsworth’s review published on Letterboxd:
I really liked Song to Song only to find out afterwards that it was actually Terrance Malick’s least critically acclaimed piece of work. It’s therefore no surprise that when it came to watching Thin Red Line, one of his most acclaimed films, I loved it.
To be able to show the beauty of nature and people against the backdrop of the horror of war is masterful. Shifting narrations allowing us into the deepest thoughts of our characters, as we’re fed visuals of horrific violence and destruction. Zimmer’s score is immensely powerful and the cinematography and direction are superb. An unbelievably moving piece of art.
