"You've finally done it, done it right, done it like a man's supposed to have done it".
Jesus Christ, what a sad movie. Nolte and Coburn are incredible in this.
The direction is fantastic, the performances are great and the fights are very cool. However, the plot and dialog are very messy and leave a lot to be desired and the pacing is very all over the place, they're a lot of slow uninteresting parts in this. Maybe I'll like this more on rewatch, but for now, I'm left disappointed.
Clint Eastwood and Robert Duvall in a John Sturges directed movie written by Elmore Leonard. It sounds like that should make for a great movie, but unfortunately, this is very dull and half baked. Nobody is really putting in much effort here and it shows. This is easily Clints worst Western. It does have a good score by Lalo Schriffen and a couple cool moments, but it's definitely not enough to save it.
