Shaun Akkermans’s review published on Letterboxd:
Vox Lux itself was bleak, exploitative and I’d say valid to an extent with its portrayal of a certain celeb status in this current day. Portman was convincing as the pretentious and delusional Celeste. She simmers along and explodes in the fourth act.
Willem Dafoe was also a pretty cool score for Brady Corbett. He narrates and explains everything well enough, you can just sit back and follow, not having to think too much.
The films greatest asset though, was it’s music and theatrics. After seeing Sia’s name attached to the project in the credits, it’s easy to see why this was the standout feature.
