Rob’s review published on Letterboxd:
My God, what a MASTERPIECE. Perfectly written and acted, with a beautiful soundtrack and cinematography capturing the pastoral simplicity of 1930’s Italy. At the same time, complex enough to make you examine sex work, political martyrdom, and love all in different lights. It’s such a tricky tonal balancing act between Fellini bacchanalia, righteous anger, dark comedy, sweeping romanticism and Wertmüller pulls it off with aplomb.
