Task 12: Watch a film produced by UPA
Film #13 of Horror x52 2019
Task 16: A Short film (Under 20 minutes)
One of the best retellings of Poe's classic tale. I think this is now my second favorite, right behind Vincent Price telling it in An Evening of Edgar Allan Poe. I love UPA's art style here, the odd angles and lighting serve to illustrate the fractured mind of the narrator quite well. Kinda reminds me of German Expressionism. This was nominated for an Oscar, and it definitely deserved the nomination. Animation lovers should definitely see this at some point.
