A slightly frustrating watch to be honest. The expectations and hype around this film pushes it as being incredibly gory with multiple horrific sequences as the such when in reality it’s a mediocre mystery thriller for the first hour and a half only to then end on a horrific note with the final twenty minutes. I thought the performances were weak and wasted a relatively strong script and I generally think the movie could’ve benefited from a better pace.

Combining Raimi’s razor sharp, electric editing / directing and his affinity for b-movie horror with marvels continual pathos and entertaining storytelling, DS:MOM is a treat. Equally as entertaining as it’s ancestors, evil dead and spiderman, this film is perfectly spooky, electrifying, emotive and compelling, weaving a tight, efficient and effective narrative around its core players.
