Just a suggestion, take a friend who has never seen a Scott Adkins film and check their reaction when he throws his first kick while wearing a fatsuit. Golden.
Surprisingly needed a few more smiles at some points to avoid it dragging but takes a goofy idea and ends up doing the whole trauma is the real horror thing better than any of the recent unbearable a24-style stuff that keeps getting made. Cannot stress enough that the ending left me with the biggest grin also. Loved it let's get some more of this.
Patlabor 2: The Movie 1993
The standout of the series and Oshii's best work in my opinion. Patlabor 2 fully removes itself from it roots here, moving away from malfunction mech units to a more insidious type of threat. Cyber Ninja 1988
Keita Amemiya makes a traditional samurai film his way and by that I mean he makes it cyberpunk and fills it with cyborgs and robots. It is a dream. For me there is no better character designer in film and television than Amemiya and this is such a great way to start getting into his work.
