Signs ★½

Shyamalan explores faith in the presence of tragedy with no nuance on a very narrow canvas, creating two phases in this story: before Christianity in which aliens invade the planet and after Christianity in which all returns back to normal. It’s a shame that the horror is trapped within this borderline advertisement because Shyamalan’s eye for scares is tremendously powerful. He’s always restricting a clear visual on the creatures while showing as much environment possible which creates this sense of unease that pays off in some of the best jump-scares ever put on screen.
