Really wanted to like this, but just couldn’t get on its wavelength. Didn’t seem to be any real thrust to the story; it just sort of sits in a lot of mood without any sense of movement. Loved a lot of the early stylistic flourishes and most of the acting. Bummed.
Any movie with a gay sex scene involving Taron Egerton OR Richard Madden would be a lot for me, so you can imagine the time I had here.
I like how this leans into being a full-on jukebox musical here and there, even though that means it’s only as watchable as your average jukebox musical. Still a goopy biopic with that really digital look I don’t care for.
