Who the fuck is doing it like Eggers? In just three films, the man has established himself as one of the most exciting directors working today and a visionary in the truest sense of the word. The Northman continues his trend of Shit Going Extremely South in Period Pieces, but the $90 million budget gives him the resources (and the creative freedom) to embrace his blockbuster sensibilities and realize his grandest ideas. The result is a piece of work that burns with an energy and intensity rarely seen in mainstream releases today. Loooved it.
