i sat near two women around my age that were SO involved in this film. hearing them sigh, laugh, and just luxuriate in the melodrama of it all was almost as beautiful as the movie itself.
theres a scene where newland faces the window and countess olenska walks up behind him and embraces him. it is played out so convincely that i can see this movie a million times and still be shocked when it is revealed that newland daydreams…
