Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'

Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' ★★★

Somehow, they always find a way to work in the classic villains who should be long gone. Breaking the rules of their own lore too. Originally, from what I remember, Dragon Balls could only resurrect those who had been dead less than a year. Frieza had been gone way longer than that.

But I digress. This isn't even close to being a "bad" movie, but as time goes on I find more to critique about it. The inclusion of the Pilaf gang made some sense in the last one, as a way to retcon the events of GT. So why are they here again? It's cool for the fans of the original series I suppose.

Alright, alright, enough negativity. Believe it or not I do still find a good amount to enjoy here. The fighting is quite good, though not on par with the last film or the follow up. Those scenes with Roshi, Krillin, Piccolo, Tien and Gohan all dishing out hurt to the Frieza soldiers was awesome and gave each fighter a bit of their own time to shine, which hadn't happened in many years. Gohan is still a pathetic fighter compared to his old self though.

Overall, this felt like a filler movie, and somehow managed to be handled largely by Akira Toriyama himself, also being feature length. But like any of the other films, there's always something to enjoy if you're a DBZ fan.
