If you trim it a little, this would've been a cool episode of an anthology series like AMAZING STORIES, but as a movie, even in its short 80-minutes-till-the-credits-roll length, it's too slow.
Okay, it's heavy on atmosphere and that the first 2/3 are just an average crime drama, make the 3rd act genre twist so much sweeter, but it also feels like they started shooting the finale, without having a clear idea how to fill the rest of the runtime.
I don't wanna sound too negative. As a whole I enjoyed SLEIGHT. It's a well made low budget movie and I wouldn't be surprised if everybody involved will soon move on to bigger things, it's just not something that I can see become a beloved classic or simply grow above its festival darling status.
