Earnest update muddled by obtuse editing, a chronological telling of the story or even a framing device actually using Louisa May Alcott instead of the Jo-cypher would be preferable. This is an exceptionally adroit production regardless of narrative or adaptative issues and is a welcome addition to the Little Womenverse.
