Stunning, unnerving and harrowing for each and every minute. Wow.
Rian Johnson has done the unimaginable. He has crafted a beautiful, mediative film laced with tragedy and that all important word, hope. This film is so fucking self aware, it’s unreal, and the best thing is, it furthers the Star Wars mythos, whilst also breathing as it’s own film, dealing with themes that resonate deeply, taking stylistic risks that pay off wonderfully. And that is astonishing in today’s blockbuster climate.
Fuck yes, Star Wars is still the best blockbuster franchise around.
