Dang this was a good ass movie. Like Fargo's little brother, but somehow simultaneously sweeter and twists the knife harder. Such empathetic character richness. Billy Bob is fucking amazing, but I think Paxton excels in a subtler way as he just sinks deeper and deeper into the pit. Immediately my 2nd favorite Raimi film behind Spidey 2. Really appreciated this the whole way through and will be thinking about it for awhile.
Jim Cummings won me over with this one. Thunder Road lost me after its strong, intense opener, but this dark Looney Tunes tale of lust and violence remains intriguing the entire runtime. Cummings is going absolutely rabid and his ranting and raving and awkward self-immolations work every single time. There's sneaky sci-fi blossoms dropped throughout this dystopian world that is ours yet only slightly askew. A damn good flick, I already want to rewatch a few scenes.
Wow. Third time's the charm. I almost skipped this one to finally watch the turd one for the first time. Felt like I'd seen this twice before and had it down. I liked it well enough but didn't love it. Boy am I glad I threw it on because I was immediately enraptured. Tonight, this felt like a masterpiece.

You may notice I've logged this twice. That is not an error. I unexpectedly got to catch the 4:15 showing with about a dozen people in the theater. It was a transcendent experience. I walked outside as the sun was about to set feeling uplifted and grateful. I immediately knew I was going to see the 7:15 showing. I have never done that before in my life.
