The Modern History of Japan in Cinema

One of several projects I will be aiming to complete this year is to become somewhat knowledgeable in modern Japanese History. Alongside the reading I will be doing for this I will also be watching cinematic representations of the time periods relevant to where I am at in the historical narrative. I will begin with the end of the Tokugawa Shogunate and conclude at the present.
