Standard, run of the mill Guy Ritchie film in the same vein as Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
Once a genre becomes oversaturated enough, it can’t help but become a parody... Ritchie seems to be aware of that. The majority of The Gentlemen is told through an over-the-top screenplay pitch. Which kind of lets Ritchie off the hook for all those cliches...
Other than that, there’s a rape scene that serves no real narrative purpose 😡... if you’re after a British gangster film I’d watch another of Ritchie’s better films but this is an adequate popcorn flick!
