  One less star for that awful rap about a woman's weight. While I got that it was critical to show how shallow Hendrix's rapping was when he started, that was too much and really unnecessary. Really awful treatment of ALL female characters in this movie as well - Betchai, Hendrix's sister, Candy, and Doc's wife. None of them got any slight redemption.

  I think the most important thing that The Kingmaker did was to directly connect the Marcoses to Duterte - the money, the power, the influence, the strategy, the long con - in a way that is easy for people to follow and understand. Infuriating and frustrating to watch how this same story played out twice in our lifetimes.

  The main takeaway is proper education. Even I don’t remember being taught about the horrors of Martial Law in elementary and high…
