the brief moment when johnny saw that gheorghe brought little salt packets to season his own depressing portion of instant noodles and realized how much he has denied himself kindness and love. he’s just sitting there eating bland food because he thinks that’s what he deserves: no nourishment, only self-punishment. and there gheorghe is, seasoning what little there is to eat because he knows he deserves that. jesus fucking wept.

To see a film about Chinese lesbians navigate their very Confucian, traditionalist world yet upholding their love is just so beautiful.
