I cannot express enough how distressing it was, as a teacher, to hear Clifford say “Ms. Sarah” as frequently as he did.
There were maybe six people in the theater for this but it felt like a packed house with how loudly we all laughed. I was laughing so hard that my best friend had to ask me if I was okay at one point. Hilarious and haunting. It’s easy to focus on Martin Short but Charles Grodin gives one of the greatest performances of all time in this.
Noah Baumbach has created far more characters that I relate to than any other director, which isn't good, because most of his characters are depressed assholes.
My word. What a beautiful, brilliant movie. This is unlike anything that I've seen before. I'll probably never see anything like this again. Just about everything, if not absolutely everything, worked out.
The acting is fantastic. Joaquin Phoenix is very sympathetic as Theodore. He really gets across the sadness, anger and joy that he feels depending on the scene. Amy Adams is also great in her supporting role as Theodore's friend Amy. To be honest, I think it's this role…
