The Story of Film: A New Generation 2021
Cousins cornball approach to categorization makes this really fun. It varies from dumb-as-rocks in it's metaphors to actually insightful in it's ways of thinking about cinema.

Funny Ha Ha 2002
It's preocupation with communication and the space between what each character expects from each other reminded me a lot of early Mike Leigh in its own aimlessly wanderous way.

History Is Made at Night 1937
There's a point in the movie where it transforms into an episode of Kitchen Nightmares and it's fantastic.

Black Bear 2020
Kinda funny how Michael Lavine who starred on Swanberg's The Zone, took the main idea from that film and riffed on it. That's not precisely a bad thing but there's not much added here. Also the running time and to-the-point editing of The Zone worked much better than the attempt of lyrical depth that Michael Lavine went with.
