You would think that a movie where Idris Elba faces off against a vicious lion would be a lot of fun, but alas, that is not the case here. It kind of limps along, showing some brief signs of life, but ultimately feels bland. At least Elba is pretty good, but the rest of it is pretty weak.

An incredible achievement across the board, with some of the best action sequences of the past decade, excellent musical numbers, and a compelling tale of friendship at its core. It loses a little bit of steam in the second half, but it picks right back up in the last chunk of it. It’s a gorgeous spectacle, but also has a strong emotional center to it, and is a genuinely thrilling experience.
