I thought this would be a miserabilist clusterfuck, but, strangely, it's not. It's even uplifting, in a certain way. I think the reason why it kind of works is the director's decision to film everyone, no matter who, with dignity. There's not much to see beyond this Foreign Language Film Oscar-bait road movie, but at least the whole thing is not against its characters.
