Stalker ★★★★½

This was my first Tarkovsky film so it's probably safe to say that I had no way of knowing what I was getting into. There is a lot of stuff for me to process right now, but regardless, I feel the need to record my initial thoughts. On the surface, Stalker is a beautiful piece of art. Some of the shots and images from the film are pure beauty and have officially been seared into my brain. As far as the philosophical nature of Stalker is concerned, I'm not sure if it's trying to say that a) we feel guilty about our truest desire, b) we truly do not want our truest desire (which seems counterintuitive), c) something else that I missed entirely, or d) all of the above. This is one that I will have to revisit.
