Chance Hall’s review published on Letterboxd:
The Thing is fucking awesome! It has a little bit of everything and is easily one of the best horror films ever made. It's pure genius how Carpenter takes the vast open landscape of Antarctica and turns it into a claustrophobic nightmare - not to mention the unforgettable and gruesome effects. Oh, and just for kicks, the characters are put in a hopeless situation with absolutely no chance of survival. If that's not the definition of horror, then I don't know what is. Actually, I just realized that when it comes to the Sci-Fi/Horror genre, The Thing is the film that rises above the rest. It has been 3½ decades and nothing comes close.
