Mur Murs

Mur Murs ★★★★½

As gorgeous as the (many) murals are, I think my favorite parts of this are all of the cameos, intentional or otherwise: Donna Deitch's name is on the Great Wall of Los Angeles, Lynn Carey shows up on the side of a beach house, and Juliet Berto wanders in and out of the film, almost serving as a proxy for Agnès herself.

There's a casualness about this that I love so much — the way these artists from different parts of the city and from completely different backgrounds mingle with each other and keep popping up around the film, a French photographer here and a carnie-turned-evangelical there. Some of the conversations aren't subtitled, but they don't need to be — the art speaks for itself.
