Kyle Bruce’s review published on Letterboxd:
This film handles its subject matter so well and in such a sensitive way. The way the sound design forces us into the perspective of Riz Ahmed's character - Ruben, a drummer losing his hearing - is absolutely masterful. This has to be the best use of sound that I have probably ever heard in a film - certainly the most interesting.
Riz Ahmed's performance is brilliant, he's emotional without being melodramatic and he is completely convincing as a man suddenly going deaf (with a little help from the script of course). The story progresses pretty slowly, focusing on character, but it never feels boring, it feels intimate and patient. Olivia Cooke is also great here, she needs to be in more things.
Overall, I absolutely loved this film.
