Kyle Bruce’s review published on Letterboxd:
Usually for period pieces such as The Favourite, I see great production design, costumes and makeup but have little interest in the plot (e.g. Scorsese's Age of Innocence). However, Yorgos Lanthimos' The Favourite has all of those things, as well as marvellous performances and sharp, clever dialogue. The camera work is very dynamic and injects life into every scene no matter how simple or short. I enjoyed this a lot more than the usual British period drama, simply because it is so unique and quirky.
