Fun fact the first movie I saw on the big screenΒ was Scream 2 in 1997. Many years later Scream 4 is released in 2011 and what do you know? Your boy got his first job at a theater the night of the premiere. Best job ever btw. I was thinking about this random coincidence while watching and it made me smile. Life is strange huh?

Covenant works as a competent alien slasher with solid visuals, a string of kills that range from tense - medbay sequence - to campy - climax shower scene that feels like something pulled from a Friday the 13th script - and two kissing androids portrayed by Fassbender dabbling in homoerotic flute lessons in which one cheekily instructs the other to blow in the hole while the former does the fingering before ultimately declaring fuck gay rights. Never mind the attemptsβ¦
One of those movies youβre sure youβve seen before but the further you get into it the more you realize you remember absolutely nothing about it. To make matters worse this is a remake so all I could think about was Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Atkins, Carpenterβs score, Cundeyβs cinematographyβ¦ yeah donβt make the same mistake I did, just watch the original.
If I had a dollar for every time I thought βoh this is campβ while watching Iβd be a rich bitch. Having low expectations going in I surprisinglyβ¦ didnβt hate Texas Chainsaw Massacre. At times the dialogue and acting choices are extra but the aesthetic is slick as is Leatherfaceβs whole schtick. Fuck he is scurrrry here and Iβm living for it. Some scenes genuinely had me on the edge of my seat and I jumped more times than Iβ¦
