Pugsley McFly’s review published on Letterboxd:
So, I absolutely enjoyed watching John Cameron Mitchell's directorial gemstone Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001). However, I struggled with this move once we arrived at the scene where the punk trio arrives at a social party hosted by alien lifeforms who perform avant-garde dancing and ritualistic behavior as part of their integration process into the human culture on Earth. Um, ya, this would be the point in the movie when I started to lose interest. As the movie goes on it's a riff of the Romeo and Juliet story blended in with the Eighties Punk scene in suburban England along with a small dash of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl element. All these different ingredients just didn't blend very well with the final product. I could not really immerse myself into the story.
