Sea Lucas’s review published on Letterboxd:
This film operates at a level of brilliance that is rarely achieved within the usually tepid and repetitious horror genre. In a world where horror fans are inundated with an endless barrage of mind-numbing torture porn, ridiculous home invasion movies, and (worst of all) cheap found footage cash-grabs, The Witch provides a much welcome breath of fresh air which I can only describe as a work of horror-art. It is an immersive, intense, and ultimately unforgiving experience, culminating in a grand finale that left me cackling with perverse glee. We desperately need more intelligent horror films like this which refuse to cater to the lowest common denominator. Well done, Robert Eggars.
