Not exceptional all around, but it is one of the most interesting films of 2019 based on the concept alone. Shia Labeouf is legitimately incredible. A career best for him and it definitely should have gotten him an Oscar nomination. Noah Jupe is also great. Lucas Hedges and the rehab segments were honestly the weakest points for me. Whenever they would pop up, I would be eagerly awaiting more of Shia and Noah. Luckily, they made up only a small portion of the film. They weren't terrible, but when Shia Labeouf is giving a transcendental performance, I want to see that instead.
