I'm not sure if there's anything that feels more traditionally Halloween in America than sitting in the kitchen, having a cup of coffee and watching Halloween III on television at 9am, the sun shining through the windows, the wind howling & tossing leaves around, patiently waiting for the movie to return after commercials advertising local haunted houses or spooky specials of other shows. I'm glad I was able to experience this at my mom's in Western New York, I am really feeling the Halloween spirit today.

McDonald's Happy Meal Version of 'The Wicker Man': Mass-produced, induced-demand, consumer-driven, standardized, repeatable, profitable. The 1980's Reagan/Thatcher Era transformed Seasonal Ritualized Mass Sacrifice into a slick corporate entity delivering The Good Times And Good News to All The Children Everywhere! Benevolent weather patterns and bountiful crop yield became positive quarterly projections, reaped bonus dividends, and investor satiation. Ultimately, does it matter which gods we are being sacrificed to without ever knowing their names? Those names change. The appetites of which…

Corporate witchery. Small-town idyllic life bought out, and industrial employment carried in from the Big City. Death is prepped and prepared for existence, and for no other reason than that. Tommy Lee Wallace strips down the Carpenter Template to a rough, electronic wound - bleeding synths from all edges and oozing a sinister property not yet discovered. Even the exposition is meaningless, as the narrative is set-dressing for the final moment - every channel the same message, the same tune, and Carpenter's artistry is now an accomplice of branding. Our demise is self-imposed - how can we stop it when we let it happen?

It may not be directed or written by him, but it certainly feels like a Carpenter movie.

From the synth score, the sense of mysterious dread looming over the entire film, the focus purely on allowing the images to tell the story rather than spell everything out through dialogue, the more quiet, methodical pace, the offbeat characters, everything fits in line with a good amount of his trademarks. Even the overall plot revolving around mass produced child murdering masks and…

You know I've held off watching this as everyone says it's terrible. They are wrong. It's really good. Much in the same way as Cloverfield uses its universe to tell different stories Halloween wanted to do something similar. Of course, the drooling masses just complained that Michael Myers wasn't in and stomped their feet until they made more films with him in. Boring fuckers.

Season of the Witch is the second best Halloween film.

I love that this is essentially a russian doll of halloween revolt.

The town where silver shamrock exists is the antithesis of halloween spirit. All doors locked, no mischeif, lockdown after curfew, no decor or sweets or people. No iron fist, more an iron mask.

then the pagan halloween lazer forces of dark arts and nature and religion and fizzing energy of the universe here to relay that halloween pranks arent all mcdonald happy meal disguisings and clip art cauldrons. Death is real. The snake will break through. The mask is a gate. Money is a conduit.

Halloween III is the Rocky of horror films. A true underdog that constantly gets beaten down, but eventually works and works to win and gain the respect of the world. It's a beautiful thing. I love seeing how celebrated it deservedly gets. I've championed this film since I was a kid. It rules hard.

HAPPY HAPPY HALLOWEEN HALLOWEEN HALLOWEEN HAPPY HAPPY HALLOWEEN SILVER SHAMROCK!

I saw someone in a horror group on fb say this movie sucks because it’s not a Myers story and was getting 1998 early internet message board flashbacks lol.

This is one of the best horror films of the 1980’s and nothing makes me happier than a “LET’S KILL ALL THE CHILDREN” plot. Nothing.

I know this movie has a bad reputation, but it needs another look by those who have snubbed this Myers-less entry. Scream Factory presents us with a fine widescreen transfer and great sound to give people a fairly inexpensive purchase for October 31st. Erase Michael Myers for your memory for 98 minutes. See the movie as a scary Halloween story and not as “that one Halloween that doesn’t count.”

Going into this I knew it had absolutely nothing to do with Michael Meyers. Surprisingly enough, this was actually really good. No Michael Meyers, but yes to Halloween Holiday things. Anyway, yeah I liked it. Way better than I was anticipating. Too bad it got to much backlash. Halloween could have been a great anthology series, instead of repeated movies of recycled Michael Myers.
