When people ask me what David Lynch's best film is I always say that it is this film. It's possible now that the Twin Peaks Saga has eclipsed it, but if we're talking purely about movies that played in theaters then I would have to say The Elephant Man. This is a decent potboiler detective story, not exactly unique in any discernible way, but I did enjoy the David Dukes performance and I found the overall experience worthwhile. For the life of me I don't know why Faye Dunaway's character is necessary to the plot and I honestly think it would be a better film without her. The performance is bad, but it's hard to blame her considering how superfluous the role is.

I'm not ashamed to say I didn't pay for this. No one should have to pay for work that is this uninspired, obnoxious or worthless. If you, like I did, feel compelled to see this movie because of the "people" on your Twitter/Facebook feed who keep recommending it to you then I would suggest that you not pay for it either. There are many ways/opportunities to see movies like this for free if you seek them out.

    I'm not going…
