Night's End

Night's End ★★★

With lots of atmosphere and good use of light, this feature film feels like it could have been a better short film. It evokes feelings without having much of a story to tell and falls into repetitive cycles with little narrative cohesion. Also, the character development doesn’t makes sense and chugging coffee with dollops of Pepto isn’t character. The lead is much too composed and unaffected to be a recovering drunk & agoraphobic recluse, and even has stable friendships he calls on Zoom frequently. If you do watch, stay to end for a mighty fabulous if wacky ending.

P.S. How does the quarantine horror sub-genre continue to thrive? HOST knocked it out of the park already and most of us want to forget that the pandemic nightmare is dragging on.
