STRESS RATING: 🌀🌀🌀 ½
Maybe more... exciting than stressful? The only points where I was really nervous were with the spooky aliens. They were pretty spooky, though.

Keeping this at an 8.5 for now however I wouldn’t be surprised if my rating increases upon rewatch. There are so many fantastic things going for Arrival, specifically with its awesome higher concept that slowly unravels over the course of the movie and hits you like a bag of bricks once you figure it out. I know that’s pretty vague, but it’s best kept that way. I also really liked Amy Adams in this, the alien designs were cool, and the cinematography was pretty great. My biggest complaints are with Jeremy Renner’s character (I don’t know, he just always irked me) and the VFX was a little spotty at points. Still, really great film!
