Stephen Puckette’s review published on Letterboxd :
It's like an extended season 4 of The Wire but from the slums of Rio De Janeiro. And despite it's 2 hours of length, City of God covers so much ground and does so very thoroughly.
Li'l Ze is a monstrous individual; incredibly ruthless, but really impressive depth to the character. The Runts execution scene is particularly remarkable.
The camerawork is also spectacular. Watching Li'l Ze grow up through the various executions montage was a fantastic way of showing a character evolve. But just on the whole, the way City Of God is filmed added so much to it's overall effect.
