It's a sign of how much terrible stand-up I've watched in the last few months that I did not have even the tiniest hope that this would be any good.
But it was actually very good and I think there was more than enough proof here that comedians that want to do lighter, fluffier material can still very much have their day in the sun. Gaffigan riffs on nothing more taxing than junk food and how to behave in restaurant, but it really was consistently funny stuff.
It will be interesting when I watch his later shows to see if he drops the constant impression of someone critiquing his performance. I can imagine that its ever-presence in this show might annoy some people, but I actually thought it was the funniest part of this show. A nice surprise!
