Cosmopolis

One of my favorite things about this film is that Cronenberg never presents a full image of what the city or any part of it really looks like other than the exteriors of a few buildings. This isn't just because they filmed in Toronto but rather because the audience is being presented with the claustrophobia of this hypercapitalist society which is also illustrated through the extensive use of wide lenses especially while shooting peoples faces. It is easy to see in Cronenberg's later work what he means when he says that the essence of cinema is a face talking.
