As Julio goes to Manila to search for his beloved Ligaya, we also follow what Julio, a young countryman, is doing to hold on to this big, brutal, and unfair city. It is great that the film creates a construct to observe a city and its society, and moreover to create it through a love story. This was my favorite point in the movie. In addition, while witnessing the society or the city at those times, the film is neither too didactic nor exaggerated melodramatic.

The atmosphere created with its characters, music, places, story and dialogues is very interesting. It gives a strange experience with everything and leaves a very exotic feeling. The way the characters in the story intersect with each other is well constructed.
