Shachar’s review published on Letterboxd:
About twenty minutes before leaving the house, my mom told me that she and my sister had chosen a film that was not "Shachar approved." When I heard it was Black or White I told her I didn't mind, because I loved stories about race relations and what I like to call "criticism on modern day society." This film turned out to be neither. It was an absolutely trivial movie about what could have been a great topic. Half of the jokes made me incredibly uncomfortable and the characters played on old stereotypical tropes. Black or White missed an opportunity to discuss identity in this increasingly multi-ethnic world in a meaningful way. Compared to the masterpieces I have been seeing as of late, this film was an absolute trainwreck.
