John Barlow’s review published on Letterboxd:
I still don’t think I fully have my head wrapped around this film (not a mark against it in any way), but I did appreciate this on a rewatch for being a mood piece for running away from reality, or being obsessed with denial. After all, there’s a lot of shots of the back of people’s heads in medium-close-ups, and it’s a theme that comes up in other Tarkovsky films, but I think it’s most brought to the forefront here. Every time I watch this film, it’s like I’m watching it for the first time. It’s never quite as I remember it.
