The Incredible Hulk ★★★

Rewatching Every MCU Movie Leading Up To Infinity War: #2

Edward Norton is great, in fact I think it would’ve been interesting to see him instead of Ruffalo, and there are a couple of really entertaining action scenes, but The Incredible Hulk is still bogged down by poor pacing, shoddy CG and a mostly generic story. Being released a few years after Batman Begins, I feel like it followed in the ideal that all superhero/franchise movies had to be dark and gritty, and while other films that came after it did it well, this was one of those that fell flat in that regard. While it worked for Iron Man, this felt more unintentionally silly than serious.  The 3rd act pretty much becomes a B movie that you’d see at the bottom of a bargain bin at Wal-Mart.  While that’s not necessarily a bad thing, I expect better out of a studio that’s more than capable of delivering good action scenes.  But that’s not to say The Incredible Hulk is a bad movie, it certainly has its engaging moments here and there, held together by Norton himself, but nobody else really gets to do anything besides stand around and give Banner things to do.  If you’re a Hulk fan, you’ll get a hell of a lot of enjoyment out of this, but for me and everybody else, this is a mildly enjoyable CB movie that you can watch and be entertained from time to time by, but that’s about it.
