I am usually not too liberal with five stars but bow I have given two in three days.
This is gotta be easily among the top five movies I have seen this year. Spike jonze has made a soulful, often funny, extremely poignant and strangely relatable movie about loneliness and melancholy and love. The performances are brilliant. Phoenix especially who is on screen for the entirety of two hours plus running time. He brings the vulnerability and melancholy of Theodore perfectly. It seems Amy Adams can't do any wrong as she gives another strong performance. Much had been said about scar jo 's voice and before I saw the movie I thought "come on, why is everyone else going Gaga over a voice performance? It can't be that good". I just realized how goddamn wrong I was.
